 29 Nisan 1970 Boston doğumlu oyuncu Uma Thurman seyircinin
dikkatini ilk olarak 1988 yılında Terry Gilliam’ın
fantastic filmi The Adventures of Baron Munchausen’deki
rolü ile çekti. Aynı yıl John Malkovich ile birlikte
rol aldığı Stephen Frears’ın Dangerous Liaison filmi ile ününe ün kattı.
Philip Kaufman’ın Henry & June, John Boorman’ın
Where The Heart Is, Phil Joanou’nun Final Analysis, Jennifer 8
ve Gus Van Sant’in Even Cowgirls Get the Blues filmleri ile
değişik rollerde ne kadar başarılı olduğunu kanıtladı.
1996’da Thurman, Quentin Tarantino’nun Pulp Fiction filmi ile
Oscar’a aday gösterildi. 2003-2004 Thurman yönetmenle
tekrar bir araya geldi ve Kill Bill: Volume 1 ve Kill Bill: Volume 2,
Gelin rolü ile Altın Küre’ye aday gösterildi. Be Cool, The Producers,
My Super Ex-Girlfriend ve Motherhood ise ardından
rol aldığı diğer önemli filmleri oldu.
